Rocco Forte Hotels’ newest properties, Le Richemond in Geneva and The Charles Hotel in Munich are set to open this summer. Geneva’s Le Richemond re-opens following an 18-month renovation. The 109-bedroom hotel is located minutes from Geneva’s business districts and a 15-minute car journey from Geneva Cointrin airport.
The Charles Hotel is a new-build property with 160-bedrooms located in central Munich. The hotel features seven conference rooms accommodating groups of up to 60 people, a split-level ballroom catering for 160 people for a seated dinner and two private dining rooms.
The Hilton Portorosa, opened its doors recently becoming the second Hilton hotel in Sicily and the second Hilton Worldwide Resort in Italy.The nine-storey 263-bedroom hotel has become one of the largest conference facilities in Sicily, according to the chain. The hotel has been purposely built for the conference and leisure market with almost 2,000 square metres of meeting space which can accommodate up to 1,200 delegates over two floors.
The University of Manchester has released new artist impressions and details of the temporarily named SCAN Building, the city’s latest conference venue, which is due for completion early next year. Based at Oxford Road, the building is the largest purpose-built lecture theatre in Manchester, featuring a 1,100-seat semi-circular auditorium. It is designed to offer flexibility to organisers, and will be capable of dividing into a 600 and a 400-seat theatre.
Church House Conference Centre, Westminster has re-opened following a £3.1 million refurbishment. The relaunch of the meetings and events venue took place with X-Factor finalists Journey South performing an acoustic set in front of a 550 strong audience of corporate buyers and agents.
Following the levelling of the floor in the 664 seater circular Assembly Hall, Church House can accommodate seated dining for 372 as well as for conferences and meetings. The Assembly Hall can also be used to host 650 for receptions and staged performances for in excess of 550
The Chester Grosvenor and Spa will be investing over £3 million pounds in the meeting and private dining facilities at the hotel during summer 2007.
The Park Inn Heathrow will opens a new conference centre in April. The very best of cutting-edge design is being married together with state-of-the art technology to create one of the largest conference centres in the UK and most attractive venue at Heathrow. The new centre offers 2,000 square metres of meeting and will be able to accommodate up to 700 delegates theatre-style. The facility will offer nine conference and meeting roomsand a total of 45 break out rooms.
Dolce International has opened its first hotel, resort and conference venue in Belgium, Dolce La Hulpe Brussels.
The newly renovated conference property is Dolce’s largest to date. The hotel has 264 guest rooms and suites and 4,000 square metres of meeting space, incorporating 25 meeting and breakout rooms, two auditoriums (seating 150 and 500 people), a multi-purpose room, and space for events and exhibitions.
